Gas Line Services in Beaumont and Southeast Texas
Gas work is the part of plumbing where being careful is the entire job. A gas line does not give you much room to be approximately right, and the consequences of an error are not the kind you correct later. We install, repair and test gas lines across the Golden Triangle, from Beaumont and Port Arthur out through Hardin County and along the Interstate 10 corridor. New runs for appliances, repairs to existing lines, and leak testing when something does not smell right. Licensed work, pressure tested, done to code. If you smell gas right now, leave the building and call the gas utility from outside. Do not use a light switch or a phone inside. That call comes before ours.

What Gas Work Around the House Usually Involves
Most residential gas calls fall into a few categories. Running a line to an appliance that does not have one. A gas range where the kitchen was electric, a dryer connection, a tankless water heater that needs considerably more gas than a tank unit does, a pool heater, a generator, or an outdoor kitchen or grill line. Repairing or replacing an existing run. Older black iron corrodes, particularly where it passes through or near ground contact, and Gulf Coast humidity is not gentle on exposed pipe. Capping a line that is no longer used, which sounds trivial and is not. An abandoned line left open is a hazard that outlives whoever abandoned it. And testing, which is the one people call about when something has already made them uneasy. The common thread is that every one of these involves sizing, pressure and connections that have to be right rather than close.
Sizing Is Where Gas Jobs Go Wrong
A gas line has to deliver enough volume at adequate pressure to every appliance on it, simultaneously, at full demand. That is a calculation, not a guess. The inputs are the total load of all appliances, the length of the run, the number of fittings and turns, and the pipe material and diameter. Undersize any part of it and appliances starve when several run at once. That shows up as a furnace that struggles while the water heater is recovering, or a range that will not hold a proper flame. Tankless water heaters are the most frequent offender in this region right now, because they demand a great deal more gas than the tank unit being replaced. A line that was entirely adequate for forty years becomes undersized the day the new unit goes in, and the symptom appears as a water heater problem rather than a gas problem. Anyone adding a significant gas appliance should have the existing system evaluated for the new total load rather than assuming the line is fine because it always has been.
Leaks, Testing, and What to Do First
The mercaptan odorant added to natural gas is there so people notice leaks, and if you smell it you should act on it. Get everyone out of the building. Do not flip switches, do not use a phone indoors, and do not light anything. Call the gas utility from outside. They will shut the supply. Other signals are worth knowing. Hissing near a line or a connection. Dead vegetation in a line over a buried run. A gas bill that climbed without a change in usage. After the utility has made the site safe, locating and repairing the fault is our work. That means pressure testing the system to find where it is losing, repairing the section, and testing again to confirm the repair holds. The verification is not a formality. It is the only thing that distinguishes a repair from a hope. New installations get pressure tested and inspected before they are put in service, every time. One local note. Generators became far more common across Southeast Texas after Uri, and a generator is a significant gas load that frequently gets added to a system nobody re-evaluated. If yours went in during that stretch, it is worth confirming the line was sized for it.
