Our Services in Groves, TX

Groves sits between Port Arthur and Port Neches in the heart of Mid County, a compact residential city built up largely around refinery employment through the middle of the last century. That era of construction, in Jefferson County soil, produces a fairly predictable set of plumbing problems. Slab-on-grade over expansive clay, older supply and drain materials, and a high water table that keeps everything buried in wet ground. We cover Groves and the rest of Mid County, open Monday through Sunday, 24 hours.

Slab Work Is the Main Event Here

Groves is almost entirely slab-on-grade, and the soil under it is the same expansive Gulf Coast clay that runs across the whole region. That combination is the single most common source of serious plumbing work in this city. Clay takes on water and swells, dries out and shrinks, and does it repeatedly through a year that includes both drought and rainfall measured in feet. The slab rides that movement, and the pipe cast underneath it goes along. Copper supply lines abrade where they contact concrete and eventually develop pinholes. Cast iron drain lines crack at joints. Neither failure is visible, and both run for a long time before anyone notices. The drain side shows up as recurring backups with no obvious cause, a sewer smell that moves around the house, or a section of flooring that lifts. The supply side shows up on the water bill. We locate the fault precisely before anyone breaks anything, because a located leak is a small targeted repair and an unlocated one is a series of holes in your floor.

What the Age of the Housing Adds

Homes from the refinery build-out years generally came with galvanized supply lines and cast iron drains, and both are now decades past the point anyone expected them to still be working. Galvanized corrodes inward. The interior fills with rust, the effective diameter shrinks, and pressure fades so gradually that households adjust without registering it. Hot lines go first. Discolored water on the first draw in the morning is the other tell. Cast iron scales on the inside and thins on the outside, and Gulf humidity is not kind to the outside of anything. When a house here produces its second or third pinhole leak in a short stretch, that is not bad luck. Corrosion runs at the same rate through the whole system, so the pipe that just failed is representative of the rest.

Storms, Freezes and Mid County

Groves has taken the same events as the rest of the area and carries the same aftermath. Harvey and Imelda flooded parts of Mid County, overwhelmed drainage and sewer capacity, and submerged mechanical equipment. A gas water heater that went under has to be replaced, and we still run into units that were left in service after flooding because they still lit. Uri froze and split supply lines throughout the city in 2021, particularly in garages and against exterior walls. And both kinds of event move ground. Extended saturation shifts soil under slabs and sewer lines, which is why some failures here trace back to a storm that happened years earlier.

Groves FAQ

Is a slab leak repair going to mean tearing up my house?
Not necessarily. Tunneling in from outside the foundation reaches the line without opening the slab from inside, so flooring, cabinets and walls stay intact and you stay in the house. Where the leak sits and what is above it decides whether that is the better route, which is why we locate it precisely before choosing.
What are the first signs of a slab leak?
A water bill that stepped up and stayed there, a warm spot on the floor, running water you can hear with everything shut off, or damp flooring with no source. You can check the meter yourself with all water off. If it is still turning, something is leaking.
Do you serve Groves at night?
Yes. We are open Monday through Sunday, 24 hours, and Groves is about sixteen miles from us in Beaumont. Backups and burst lines do not wait for business hours and neither do we.
My house keeps having small leaks. Is that normal?
It is common in houses of this age and it is not something to accept. Repeated pinhole leaks mean corrosion across the whole supply system rather than a run of bad luck, since the pipe ages at the same rate everywhere. At that point repiping is usually the conversation rather than another patch.
