Toilet Repair and Installation in Beaumont and Southeast Texas

Toilets fail in a handful of predictable ways. They run, they leak around the base, they rock, or they get old enough that replacing them is cheaper than fixing them again. Each of these has a clear cause, and most are quick to fix once somebody looks. We repair and install toilets in homes and businesses across Southeast Texas, from Beaumont and Nederland to Orange, Vidor, and Silsbee. One boundary up front: a toilet that will not flush or that backs up is usually a drain problem, not a toilet problem. If that is your situation, go to our residential drain cleaning page at /residential-drain-cleaning, or read /problems/toilet-wont-flush, because swapping the toilet will not clear a blocked line.

Toilet Repair and Installation You Can Count On

Toilets fail in a handful of predictable ways. They run, they leak around the base, they rock, or they get old enough that replacing them is cheaper than fixing them again. Each of these has a clear cause, and most are quick to fix once somebody looks. We repair and install toilets in homes and businesses across Southeast Texas, from Beaumont and Nederland to Orange, Vidor, and Silsbee. One boundary up front: a toilet that will not flush or that backs up is usually a drain problem, not a toilet problem. The Toilet That Will Not Stop Running

A running toilet wastes water around the clock and shows up on the next bill. The cause is almost always inside the tank. The flapper is the rubber seal at the bottom. When it warps, hardens, or collects mineral deposits, it stops sealing and water leaks into the bowl. Our local water is hard, and scale accelerates that wear on flappers, fill valves, and the little parts that move. The fill valve is the other common culprit. If it fails, water keeps entering the tank until it spills into the overflow tube. The quick test is a few drops of food coloring in the tank. If color appears in the bowl without flushing, the flapper is leaking. Both parts are inexpensive and we replace them as a set when the tank is clearly aged, so you are not calling us back for the second one.

Water at the Base and a Toilet That Rocks

Water pooling around the base is not always a leak from the toilet. Sweating from a cold tank, a loose supply line, and a failed seal under the bowl all look similar. We check them in order. The seal under a toilet is the wax ring, a ring of wax pressed between the bowl and the flange, which is the fitting on the floor that connects to the drain. When the ring fails, water and sewer gas escape at the base. It can fail from age, but the common cause is movement. A toilet that rocks, even slightly, works the ring loose every time someone sits down. Rocking has its own causes. The closet bolts may be loose, the floor may be uneven, or the flange may be broken or set too low. Houses on the Gulf Coast move with the seasonal swing between dry spells and heavy rain like Harvey and Imelda, and a slab or subfloor that shifts can leave the flange out of position. A cracked flange is repaired with a repair ring or replaced, and then the toilet is reset with a new wax ring. Rocking a toilet back onto a bad flange only buys a few weeks.

Installing a New Toilet

Sometimes the right fix is replacing the toilet. A cracked bowl, a tank that leaks at the bolts, a model that wastes water, or a remodel are all good reasons. A proper toilet installation includes removing the old unit, inspecting and, if needed, repairing the flange, setting a new wax ring, leveling and bolting the toilet down, connecting a new supply line and shutoff valve if yours are corroded, and testing it for leaks and flush performance. Many older homes in Jefferson County and Hardin County still have original shutoff valves that seize when turned, and we would rather replace one than force it and have it fail. Bowl height, shape, and rough-in distance (the measurement from the wall to the center of the drain) all matter for fit. Measure it with us or let us do it. If you are building or remodeling, we handle the toilets as part of the bathroom rough-in. See our remodel plumbing and new construction pages for that scope.

Why Some Calls Turn Out to Be Drain Calls

If water rises when you flush, if more than one fixture is slow, or if you hear gurgling in other drains, the toilet is reporting a blockage deeper in the line. In older neighborhoods with mature trees, roots are a frequent cause, and the soil conditions across the Golden Triangle make line problems common. We look at that possibility before we sell anyone a new toilet. If it is the line, we will say so, and we can clear it with the drain crew. Open 24 hours, seven days a week, because a backed up toilet does not wait for business hours.

Toilet Repair and Installation FAQ

Why does my toilet keep running after I flush?
Usually a worn flapper or a failing fill valve. Both are inside the tank, both wear faster in hard water, and both are straightforward repairs.
Is a rocking toilet a real problem?
Yes. Even slight movement breaks the wax ring seal over time and can lead to a leak that damages the floor beneath it. The fix depends on whether it is loose bolts, an uneven floor, or a damaged flange.
How do I know if it is the wax ring?
Water around the base after flushing, a sewer smell in the bathroom, or a toilet that moves are the signs. The ring cannot be replaced without lifting the toilet, so we pull it, check the flange, and reset it.
My toilet will not flush. Do I need a new one?
Probably not. A toilet that will not flush or that backs up is typically a drain clog. See /problems/toilet-wont-flush and /residential-drain-cleaning, or call us and we will sort out which it is.
Do you offer free estimates on toilet installation?
Yes. We will confirm the fit, the supply, and the flange before we quote.
