Our Services in Forest Heights, TX

Forest Heights is a small community north of Beaumont, about twenty four miles out in the wooded country between the Golden Triangle and the Big Thicket. It is a quieter part of our service area, and the plumbing conditions match the setting. Heavy tree cover, a high water table, larger lots, and a share of property on wells and septic systems. We are open Monday through Sunday, 24 hours.

Trees, Water Table and Sewer Lines

The wooded ground here is the reason most sewer calls in this area happen. Roots take the easiest moisture available, and a sewer joint that has separated even slightly qualifies. Older clay tile and cast iron runs have a joint every few feet, which is a great deal of opportunity across a long line. With the water table high through this part of Southeast Texas and heavy tree cover overhead, root intrusion is a routine finding rather than an unusual one. The presentation never varies. The line backs up, it gets cleared, and it backs up again on a similar interval, because clearing removes the mass and leaves the opening. What ends the cycle is a camera run. Roots entering at one identifiable defect is a repair that solves the problem. Roots entering at several joints along an aging run is a larger decision, and it should be made with footage rather than with a guess.

Larger Lots and Longer Runs

Property out here tends to have more ground between the house and wherever the line terminates, and that has practical consequences. More pipe means more joints, and more joints means more candidates for separation, root entry and grade loss. It also means more distance to cover when locating a fault. A camera with a locator is what turns a long buried run into a marked spot on the surface, which is the difference between a targeted excavation and an exploratory one. Where property is on well or septic, the diagnosis changes before we arrive. A slow drain on septic may be the tank or the field. A pressure complaint on a well may be the pump. Say so on the phone and the visit is more useful.

Slabs, Freezes and Storms

Houses here sit on slabs, and the ground under them is the same expansive Gulf Coast clay as everywhere else in the region. It swells and shrinks through the year, the slab rides it, and lines cast underneath abrade and crack. Uri froze and split exposed supply lines across this area in 2021. Rural property took the worst of it, because there is simply more pipe outside a conditioned space, and outages lasted longer. Harvey and Imelda both put water into low ground along the creek bottoms here. A gas water heater that was submerged has to be replaced rather than repaired, and lines that took on silt during flooding often still carry it. The useful preparation is the same everywhere. Insulate exposed lines, and confirm that your main shutoff actually turns before the day you need it.

Forest Heights FAQ

Do you come out this far?
Yes. Forest Heights is about twenty four miles from Beaumont and we cover it alongside Lumberton, Silsbee and Kountze. We are open Monday through Sunday, 24 hours.
Why do roots keep getting into my line?
Because clearing takes out the root mass without closing the opening it grew through. Heavy tree cover and a high water table mean they will find it again. A camera inspection shows whether one repairable defect is responsible or several joints along an old run.
My property is on well and septic. Does that matter?
It matters and it is worth mentioning before we drive out. A drain problem on septic may be the tank or the field rather than the line, and a pressure problem on a well may be the pump. Knowing in advance keeps the trip from being wasted.
What is worth doing before a hard freeze?
Insulate every exposed line, including at a well head and in any unconditioned outbuilding, and confirm your main shutoff turns. Rural property has more exposed pipe and longer waits for both power and help, which Uri demonstrated across this whole area in 2021.
