Our Services in Ames, TX

Ames is a small town in Liberty County just outside Liberty itself, about thirty seven miles west of us on the far side of our service area. It is a quiet community, and like most of Liberty County it mixes in-town housing with rural property on wells and septic systems. That mix decides what a plumbing call here actually involves. We are open Monday through Sunday, 24 hours.

What the Ground Does Here

Liberty County sits on the same Gulf Coast clay as the rest of this region, and it behaves the same way. It swells when it takes on moisture and shrinks when it dries, repeatedly through a year that includes both drought and rainfall measured in feet. Slab-on-grade houses ride that movement, and the pipe cast underneath goes with them. On the supply side that produces slab leaks. Copper abrades where it contacts concrete and eventually a pinhole opens, and because the line is pressurized it runs continuously from that moment, washing soil out from under the foundation the entire time. On the drain side it produces grade loss. A section settles below its intended fall, holds standing water and solids, and the line clogs on a predictable schedule. Clearing works until the low spot refills, because the grade is the actual defect. Older in-town housing adds the material question on top. Galvanized supply corrodes inward and cast iron drains scale, and both are past the service life anyone planned for them.

Wells, Septic and Rural Property

Plenty of property around Ames is outside city services, and that changes the diagnosis before anyone drives out. On septic, a slow drain may be the drain line, the tank or the field. Clearing a line that is backing up because the field has failed accomplishes nothing at all, and it is worth establishing which before anyone starts work. On a private well, a pressure complaint may be the pump or the pressure tank rather than the plumbing in the house. We work the plumbing. Knowing where it ends and the other systems begin is what keeps a trip productive. Tell us what the property is on when you call. Larger lots also mean longer runs, which means more pipe, more joints and more ground to cover when locating a fault.

Distance and Weather

Ames is about thirty seven miles out, well west of the Golden Triangle and toward the boundary of our service area, and it is worth being plain about that. Scheduled work is unaffected. Sewer camera inspection, slab leak location, water heater replacement and diagnosis all happen on an agreed day and the drive is ours to manage. For an overnight emergency, a plumber closer will arrive sooner, and we will say so when you call rather than after. Harvey and Imelda both put substantial water across Liberty County, and the aftermath is the usual: silt in lines that never flushed out, submerged gas water heaters that need replacing rather than repairing, and ground moved by weeks of saturation. Uri froze exposed lines here in 2021, and rural property took the worst of it because there is simply more pipe outside a conditioned space.

Ames FAQ

Do you serve Ames?
Yes, at about thirty seven miles it is toward the western edge of our service area. Scheduled work is routine. For a middle of the night emergency, someone closer will physically get there first and we will tell you that honestly.
My property is on septic. What changes?
The diagnosis. A slow drain on septic may be the line, the tank or the field, and those need different work. Mentioning it on the phone means we ask the right questions rather than clearing a line that was never the problem.
Why does my sewer line back up on a schedule?
Because it has a defect rather than bad luck, and out here that is usually a belly. A section has settled below its proper fall and holds standing water and solids. Clearing works until it refills, so a camera run is what turns it into something fixable.
Is my water heater safe if it was flooded?
No. A submerged gas water heater has to be replaced. The gas control and burner assembly cannot be certified after immersion, and the fact that it still lights is not evidence that it is safe.
