Our Services in Bolivar Peninsula, TX

Bolivar Peninsula runs along the Gulf Coast between the water and Galveston Bay, a narrow strip of beach communities at the far southwestern edge of our service area, about forty nine miles out. It is unlike anywhere else we serve, and nothing about the Golden Triangle playbook transfers cleanly. Elevated houses instead of slabs, salt air rather than clay soil as the dominant enemy, and a storm history that has rebuilt the peninsula more than once. We are open Monday through Sunday, 24 hours.

Elevated Houses Change the Whole Problem Set

Almost everything we do inland assumes a slab. On the peninsula that assumption is wrong, and the difference works in both directions. The good news is there is no slab leak. Plumbing under an elevated house is accessible, which means a leak that would be a tunneling job in Beaumont is a straightforward repair here. You can see the pipe. The bad news is exposure. Supply and drain lines running under an elevated structure sit in open air, exposed to salt, wind and temperature. That is why freeze damage on the peninsula is a genuine risk despite the mild coastal average, and Uri proved it in 2021. An exposed line under a house has none of the protection an interior wall provides. Salt air is the constant. It attacks exposed metal continuously, and everything under an elevated house is exposed metal or fittings connected to it. Hose bibbs, valves, connections and supports all degrade faster here than anywhere inland.

Storms, Rebuilds and Mixed Plumbing

The peninsula has been rebuilt repeatedly. Ike in 2008 was the most complete of those, Rita came through in 2005, and storms since have added to it. Harvey and Imelda hit the mainland side of our service area hardest, but the same lesson carried: a gas water heater that has been submerged has to be replaced rather than repaired, no matter how well it lights afterward. What that produces is a housing stock of very mixed vintage and very mixed plumbing. Houses built new after a storm sit next to houses that were repaired, next to ones that predate the last event entirely. On a repaired house, transitions between original and replacement work are where unexplained behavior comes from. New fixtures fed by old lines underperform and the fixtures get blamed. On rental and seasonal property there is another wrinkle. A house that sits empty for stretches has drains whose traps dry out, which lets sewer gas in, and water sitting in lines through hot months. Neither is a serious problem and both surprise people who arrive for a weekend.

Distance, Plainly

Bolivar is about forty nine miles from us and it involves a genuinely different route than anywhere else we go, down and around rather than straight out Interstate 10 the way the rest of our western service area runs. For scheduled work that is fine. Water heater replacement, drain and sewer work, repairs and diagnosis all happen on an agreed day and the travel is our concern rather than yours. For an overnight emergency, someone based on the peninsula or on the Galveston side will reach you sooner. We are not going to pretend otherwise, and we would rather say it than leave you waiting on a truck. What limits damage in the meantime is shutting the water off at the main. On an elevated house that valve is usually accessible and easy to find, which is one of the few things about peninsula plumbing that is simpler than inland. We are open Monday through Sunday, 24 hours, and we will give you honest timing when you call.

Bolivar Peninsula FAQ

Do you actually come out to Bolivar?
For scheduled work, yes. It is about forty nine miles and at the edge of our service area. For an overnight emergency, someone closer will get there faster and we will tell you that rather than have you wait on us.
Can my house on pilings have a slab leak?
No, and that is genuinely good news. Elevated construction means the plumbing under the house is accessible, so a leak that would require tunneling under a slab inland is a direct repair here. The tradeoff is that the same accessibility means exposure to salt, wind and cold.
Why do my exterior fittings keep corroding?
Salt air, continuously. Everything metal outside the envelope degrades faster on the peninsula than anywhere inland, and under an elevated house that includes a great deal of the plumbing. Periodic inspection of exterior connections is worth more here than most places.
Do pipes really freeze on the coast?
They do. The average winter is mild, which is exactly why exposed lines under elevated houses are usually unprotected. Uri froze and split them across the region in 2021. Insulating exposed runs is cheap and it is the one preparation that matters most here.
My beach house sits empty for weeks. Anything I should know?
Drain traps dry out when fixtures go unused, which lets sewer gas into the house. Running water in every drain for a minute on arrival usually fixes it entirely. It is the most common complaint on seasonal property and the least serious.
